It's all coming back to me why people quit pulling reefers

Temporarily an assistant in their department (as well as driver's services)... notice I didn't name-drop, as this is not an attempt to recruit anyone, just a comparison that reefer isn't the same everywhere. I had a vision issue pop up last year that pulled me out of a truck. Got put in an office job here, then caught COVID, and now on the long mend. May or may not ever drive again, just had heart surgery last week. Just got off the O2 bottle.

No matter what happens, though, I'll always be looking to drive again... it gets in the blood.

Thanks. I'm only 45, so I should be able to get back out there again someday.

I see a lot of drivers and wonder how they pass the physical, especially when I m currently medically restricted from operating a CMV. 400+ lbs, huffing and puffin just walking to their tandems to take a piss, yet no doc will clear me due to the heart surgery due to strokes due to COVID.

You might be out for a year or more.
    Sorry to hear that.
I had Covid mid November 2019.
I had no idea what it was but it took weeks to clear.
My body put up a fight and won the battle.

When I was pulling a refer I mainly hauled ice packed chicken(yeah, I know “Chicken Hauler) never really had a detention problem. They had a time limit to get that load. Even hauling produce like strawberries it got unloaded quickly.
But on occasions I would have to haul a load of frozen to a grocery warehouse and that’s where the trouble started.

It's a job, tune down for it, or tune out of it. Reefer pays, I haul. Split sleeper every time and have no trouble with logs. Delivery, pick up.. no problem setting mind on few hrs for that. 2 am parking.. PC to whatever is available. It's a choice to do it because it's a job, or struggle doing it because it's a job.

Winter time in Nogales. Have spent a few nights there in my sleeper wrapped in 3 blankets and would still have trouble getting up at sunrise.

Or with a load of strawberries and you have keep it on continuous to keep proper air flow.
