I work for a small local company outside Detroit that makes expedited runs for automakers. Ever since the UAW strike in October, there hasn't been enough work. I've literally had one full-week's paycheck since the strike ended - the rest have mostly been 3-day checks. I'm ready to jump, I'm trying to jump, and today I figured out the other problem.
In August I got inspected and put out-of-service for a leaking brake cylinder. Okay, it happens. But this cop wrote nine separate violations. He only told me about two. What's more, he wrote them all as "warnings". The problem with warnings is they can't be challenged... but they're on my PSP. I'm apparently unhireable.
Now what?
It's all falling apart

Forgot to do your pretrip that day or do you do those kind that are just a walk-around checking lights? Usually DOT starts hammering on carriers that don't handle maintenance and repair items well.Another Canadian driver, austinmike, silverspur and 1 other person Thank this.

That’s nonsense.
My advice is to find a company you would like to work for and walk in and apply. Take a copy of the violation and if they ask for it then explain it.
I don’t care what the new way to hire is, a good old face to face interview works wonders.
Just don’t show up looking like you climbed out of a dumpster or look like you steal catalytic converters.Oxbow, Another Canadian driver, TripleSix and 11 others Thank this. -
The tow driver said I was the ninth cab he'd pulled from that coop since Monday. It was Wednesday. He's not the only tow company in the area.Another Canadian driver, austinmike and Iamoverit Thank this.

That's new to me? and maybe something new with "warnings"? It has been A LOT of years ago, but while driving a dump truck and dragging a pup I got DOT inspected in Harrisonville MO. (I crossed the scale under 80,000 but had to much sand in my truck and not in the pup)
The truck/pup received 12 "warnings" but nothing that would place me out of service and she made me move sand from the truck to the pup via a 5 gallon bucket in 110 degree heat. (The scale master showed up and CHEWED her behind for it and made her stand next to the truck with bottled water all while I tried to get a date with her, she was a cute little red head)
I only had to move about 400lbs and I rolled back across the scale free and clear. (never did get that date)
Moral of the story? The warnings went against the company, they never showed up on my side.?Another Canadian driver, Freddy57, austinmike and 2 others Thank this. -

Were you not handed a copy of the inspection to sign? Warnings can be DataQ’ed just like any other violation. You’re not unhireable. What were the violations for? Why did the company tow you truck for something a mobile mechanic could fix in about 10 minutes?Another Canadian driver, Freddy57 and austinmike Thank this.

Been this way a long time.
Sad part is most officers don’t even know how any of this works.Oxbow, Another Canadian driver, Last Call and 4 others Thank this. -
No they were coming down on pickups and medium-duty trucks for a while, rightfully, some of the car haulers were causing accidents and driving recklessly.Another Canadian driver and Rideandrepair Thank this.
