I spoke with daisy today, seems like a nice woman, told me the miles are 2500-3000, is that realistic? I'm looking to switch because Roehl has been steady dropping my miles, when I first started I had no problem getting 3 a week and over, now I'm lucky to see 2500. And my paychecks reflect! Big time! My last 3 paychecks have been under 500 and 1 was under 400. F that, I stay out 3 weeks to make more and for no reason they are getting chopped.
    are u guys happy there?

I like schugel. I've been driving with them since September, and my miles for the week usually hover around the 2500 mile range. Length of loads are usually really good here in the dry side. Few months back, I had a nice run from New Jersey all the way to Arizona. Put in an application if you're interested, I know they're looking for drivers now. We've purchased some 2014 freightliners and kenworths recently that I'm sure you wouldn't mind driving. Any other questions, feel free to give me a shout.

Thanks, I just finished my app and in gonna be on the phone with daisy tomorrow. Not trying to be nosy but what can I expect as an average paycheck? My highest check with Roehl was 749.34 and that was the first and last.
I like the long trips my average has been 300-600 with Roehl. I'm getting so frustrated with them

Average weekly net is usually around 800. Gross is kinda confusing since we get paid 36¢ per mile with a 9¢ per diem.. My highest paycheck was in the 1,500 net range. But that was for 2 weeks, I didn't have a paycheck the previous week because I didn't finish any loads during the pay period. We do get 300-600 mile loads here and there at schugel too. It's a mixed bag, I think I just got lucky with the NJ to AZ load to be honest lol. T trucker where are you from if you don't mind me asking?

I'm from Florida east of Orlando. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind doing the smaller trips, but it's ALL I have been getting here lately and my miles are showing and my paycheck even worse. I made more money being home every night, I love OTR though, I'm 24, my dad has been doing it since he was my age (household mover) even if I saw 700 steady a week id be happy! I'm looking forward to starting (hopefully my app is all good and daisy gives me the word) I didn't want to jump ship after 7 months, I'd really like to stay with one company but I can't take these paychecks, this week is 483.77 last week 433.83. That's almost insulting, oh and the week before that was 317.54!! How can anyone do this type of work and get paid dirt

Yeah I agree, for how hard us truck drivers work, those paychecks are a slap across the face. However, to be honest, I don't think we hire from Florida. I've never driven down there during my time with schugel. You'll have to ask daisy tomorrow on the phone. Big companies like Roehl only save the long hauls for team drivers, and they get the solo guys to do all the grunt work. I dealt with the same thing at Werner. Touch base with daisy tomorrow and see what she says.

I have always thought the same thing, I looked at the website and that's as far as I took it and marked it off my list, but today I randomly called and asked and daisy said that where I lived isn't a problem as long as I don't mind being out for 3 weeks. (Which I really don't) plus there is a rider policy so my girlfriend can come, and that's a huge bonus for me. Do they let you have any say in the type of truck you get? She told me that they have frieghtliner and KW, I'd love a KW 660 or 680. I'd prefer the 660 but if I get a frieghtliner I won't complain, y'all's trucks are really nice looking. Do you go to the west very much? And is there a pet policy?

Well that's good news, but you'll probably have to pull reefer trailers since you're so far south of the hiring area, that's the majority of our company's freight. I'm not sure if you have a say in your truck preference. You get what they got. When I had orientation in Ohio they had 1 freightliner available at the time, which was assigned to me. I don't mind the FL, it runs good, it's comfortable and roomy inside, and they've taken good care of it. Most of our trucks are KWs anyway so there's a 75% chance you'll get one. Most of the time we drive between Minnesota and New Jersey. I'm in Chicagoland constantly. I'm actually delivering there to McCook IL in the morning lol, we go to Texas here and there, I've been to Cali once and Utah twice. No pets allowed in schugel trucks.

Good to know! From what I've read so far all the drivers seem to be happy, I'm really excited and hope everything goes well, it should I don't have anything on my record no tickets good work history,
reefer doesn't bother me, is there any difference in the pay? And can you explain the .09 per diem? So on top of my .36 I'll be making .45? Or is that seperate? I've never really understood that

Eh there's some snarky drivers here at schugel, but then again there's snarky drivers everywhere... Sounds like schugel would like to have you on their team. Dry van and reefer divisions pay the same. 27¢ is taxed, 9¢ is tax free which gives you more net pay, but a smaller tax return. 27 + 9 = 36 total cpm
