We have fuel at our terminal, it is the top choice for fueling and we tell everyone once loaded here in town that if they have room to top everything off. It costs us bulk delivered wholesale at whatever the negotiated rate was or something like that. I don't know the specifics, but it is always cheaper than fueling elsewhere.

I could be wrong, but I believe he does not work at Helwig. He's talking about a different company. Helwig doesn't have fuel on their yard.

That's true. They don't have fuel on their yard. 400 trucks in and out all the time but no fuel.

Go figure. I guess they are not into saving money. They require their drivers to use a crappy Exxon station down the street.

They also don't have a Blue Beacon account. You have to either pay out of pocket and hope to be reimbursed or get an EFS money order.

You know what a pain it is to pay anything by EFS?

Paying with efs check is simple…get express code and fill in the check.

That is correct. I was referring to my employer, not Helwig.

I forgot to give an update on here but I sold my truck last month due to my own personal problems. It had nothing to do with Helwig and I still recommend them for owner operators looking for consistent income.

Their loads are almost always over 1000 miles. If you get one that isn't, it usually leads to a place where you will get a load over 1000. A lot of them are 1300-1400 and sometimes get as high as 1800 if you run up to Maine. I easily got over 3000 miles a week pretty consistently. The fuel discounts are vague and you can't use their shop but the money going into my bank account made me happy. Like I said I just had my own personal problems. I was bad with my money and could never afford repairs on the truck. Ran up my credit card and then ended up getting a personal loan and that plus some other personal debt and paying for all my disabled mother's bills meant I just couldn't make it. I sold the truck for $12000 more than what I owed on it (still had 1.5yrs left on my loan) and that helped me pay off a good amount of debt so that I could go back to being a company driver and make enough to get by. I want to get my own truck again in the future having learned everything I did and try to be better with my money next time.
