2015 Peterbilt 579. Heat stopped working. 60$ for the part over 3000$ for labor. I took the actuator out and yes, the inside was stripped. Can’t get a dealer willing to do the job for 6-8 weeks so had to do something just to have defrost.
Cleaned out the door socket of any plastic shavings. Made a 3/8” ball of jb weld water stick cause it has a work time of 25 minutes. Put The ball in the socket. I sprayed silicone spray on the actuator gear and inserted it in position. Removed the actuator to insure no jb weld got into the pivot point. Reinstalled the actuator and bolted into place. They say 1 hr cure time. I gave it 5 hrs. Started the truck and let it warm up and plugged the actuator in and turned on the system. My hvac is now working the way it did on day 1. Could’ve cost +|- 3080$. It actually cost 6.75$ and my time.
JB Weld Saved me 3000$

That’s ok, we’ll take the rest of the money you would have spent, and put it away.
That way if you need it again, you can call on a leap year to get your funds, from 1430-1500 on Feb 29th.
Hold times count against your 30 minute clock.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.bzinger, Lumper Humper, D.Tibbitt and 3 others Thank this. -
I like reading about ingenuity! I mean I know thats what JB is for but, how many of us would've thought to do that? I know I wouldn't of!
