If you're pulling an empty trailer for the test, you can skip gears in other words not using the splitter at all. 1-3-5-7-9 (splitter back) or 2-4-6-8-10 (splitter forward) but I would probably use the splitter for the 9-10 action which is really easy using the first scenario-- once in 9th gear split up to 10 let off throttle momentarily for it to kick in the cruise on down the road in top gear.
We did road test this way for DMV no problems.
I would probably ask the test person if you can drive around for a few minutes 'off the record' just to get a feel for it and to relieve the pressure.

Alan is right do a very thorough inspection. I had a laundry list two pages long ( keep in mind i wrote down every paint chip, aint' chargin' nothin' back to me, he he ) because of this my truck was'nt ready today so they could'nt dispatch me out. Had to catch a ride back to the motel, go back in the mornin' and see what's goin' on. But i'm ok with that right now because that means somethinds actually gettin' fixed.

    Alanp613 Thanks this.

Nothing left on the yard. We had a very large class, at the time we did selection they were two trucks short, but everyone ended up getting one. After 90 days you can request a different truck, but not what kind, only what's available at the time, like Alan said.

Not in this truck ya' can't, lol. She's a very underpowered ol' piece. No, they won't let you ride around " off the record ". But really i would'nt worry about this. They don't care too much if you have problems shifting it, they know a lot of people have'nt driven a super 10.

When i signed my contract yesterday i found out my payment was cheaper than what was listed on the list for truck selection. The list said $546/wk, my payment $513.79/wk:biggrin_255: Now if i could just get the hell outta' here:biggrin_2553: Will be headin' back to the yard in a couple hours to see if my trucks ready yet.
