I don't know why anyone would quit! If you are talking about the new trucks with the system that kicks of the cruise when you get to close to something!

It kicks off the cruise control, applies the brakes and everytime you wander and hit the white fog line it records it and tells your company. Crete Carriers is testing those too. And I hear they have/will have front and rear facing full time cameras installed in some of their new trucks too.
I'm with Snowy, if I am paying for the truck it wont have those things on it. -
They don't have the camera and think they would go elsewhere if they did!
We have our own truck and are actually thinking of buying a forward facing camera to record the idiots who cut you of. -
I don't know why anybody driving a truck would not have their own forward facing camera. That is cheap insurance to cya. With all the city driving we do I figure it is only a matter of time until I squash one of those cars that cut in front of me. I let them tell their story and then tell the cop to step into my office and we watch what really happened. I even carry blank CDs so I can burn a copy for him when needed.
Now on the camera facing me that would be a different story. I guess I would have to hang my mirror beside it. They would have a nice view of me brushing and flossing, picking my nose and teeth and I make sure I bent over a lot so big brother gets to look at my best side often. Where do you get those low hanging pants?
Since I drive by brail I would either get fired or they would give me a seeing eye dog to bark at me.
jess-juju Thanks this. -
trucks aren't installing forward facing cameras. they're installing DRIVER facing cameras. and fog line detectors
trucks started this qualcom crap. and now the govt is pushing for everyone to have it. now trucks are installing cameras. won't be long before gov wants EVERYONE to have a camera watching them.
why anyone would want to work for a mega is beyond me. but i guess only idiots work for idiot companies.
picked up my load of foam. and came back home. get showered and a hair cut. some lunch at a real restaurant. then hit the road. -
We have the On-Guard system... It was so new when we leased that the guys in O/O Dept said it was for keeping tabs on tire pressure
So imagine our surprise when we get out on the road, get cut off on the freeway and this THING slams the breaks on!! Gary was driving, I was in the bunk... We have 16 miles on the truck and I get tossed out of the bunk!
Gotten use to it now, it still has the irritating beep if it deems we are too close to the truck I front of us. It will send a 'critical event' report if we have to brake hard or if IT does... Even had the head of Safety CALL us (talked to Gary) and asked him why he was following so close to other trucks!! Grrr!Bumper Thanks this. -
It's funny that all the big carriers push for all this stuff to watch their drivers. If they would invest a percentage of that money into driver training they would not need any of it and would drastically improve their CSA scores to boot. I guess that is just me and common sense, but what do I know I am just a dumb driver.
Panhandle flash Thanks this. -
They ought to just make the drivers wear google glasses that are wifi connected to the qualcomm with audio/video piped into Safety can click on your truck at anytime and see what you are seeing lol. Safety will be able to see if you have 2 hands on the wheel, scanning all your mirrors every 1.3 seconds and whether you are following too close, reaching for your cell phone when Mr Safety puts a call to you lol to set you up.
But I agree, every driver should at least have their own forward facing camera. Imagine sitting at a red light and getting rear ended. Crasher claims you rolled back. You show evidence at time and date stamp that your truck was dead stopped, in fact at point and time of collision the camera records *forward* movement. Case closed.
