I say stay away from Fed Ex! Those drivers are so rude and arrogant! Don't become one of them!

If it is Freight then they do not hire rookies. When I worked there I spent more time driving a forklift than I did a truck. I was hired as a city driver but I spent more time doing the night line haul run for guys who called in sick or were on vacation.

Fedex Express,Freight, and custom critical are in house company positons, they do require experience and pretty much the only way in is if you know someone. FedEx Ground is all contracted out. You can get hired with a contractor as long as you meet fedex's requirements and or take the defensive driving course they offer and pass there road test. However when working for a contractor you will have no benefits (health dental vision paid time off) Most of the contrators are slave drivers. I have worked out of both the Phoenix AZ therminal and the Portland OR terminal. Best Thing I ever did was quit.

I've worked at Freight for almost 2 years. Was hired as citydriver but worked dock for a good 6 months before I drove any. I think 2 years exp. needed. They hired me with 6 years over the road exp. I think the only way they hire without exp. is for driver apprentice. Thats where you are a dockworker till you go thru their driving program. Mostly They give these postitions to dockworkers who want them. If no dockworkers want the postitions then they will hire outside. Its very unusual to get hired straight to Roadboard unless postitions cant be filled within. Their pay and benefits are better than most. Overall am happy working their and very glad to be home every day. Made more money first year there then any year otr.

Stay away from FedEx Express. I've been driving with them almost 4 years now and still am part-time. Made 28,000.00 last year. Benefits have gone down while premiums have gone up. The pay scale is a joke. Takes 18 or so years to top out. I actually got further away from top out this year. 3% across the board. So guys topped out get .79 per hr and I get .49, wtf? With benefits going up and they cut me back an hour a week I will be bringing home less money than last year. I work next to guys that do the same exact thing I do and they make more than twice as much. Time to start looking else where. 8 years ago it was good place to work. Not sure what happened but I guess they don't mind drivers leaving and having to train new ones all the time.

Any or all drivers posting here, please help - does anyone have or can get hold of the safety dept. director, or a phone number for safety for FEDEX FREIGHT - that is, the day cabs with double trailers. I 've looked hard on the web to no avail. My wife was nearly run off the road by one the other day, and I'm tired of their "pass at any cost" attitude and aggressive tactics.

I'm pretty sure they would be interested in which units are persistently using their cell phones and not their turn signals too.

Post here, or send me a message. Thanks.
