Absolutely and like you say it comes down to the business model and the customers needs. At knight I would run out my clock constantly and always do a 34 hour restart. This is somewhat different and I imagine the planners are constantly struggling with making things work.
Last week I did three loads in sunny Georgia. The first load had 4 drops and took five days. (1100 miles) The next load was two drops in three days. (550 miles) The pay is the same as if I ran the required 2500 miles. Which during my time waiting for loading and unloading I have gained a substantial amount of hours. Almost seems like a win win because next week I will be able to run at least 10 hours for four days.
You won't be home on the weekends. You'll be out minimum of 3 weeks. They will make you do 8/2 splits and will berate you over the phone if you complain of fatigue. Also, they'll never send directions/instructions over the omni only over the phone so there isn't a paper trail. Be forewarned and prepared.
Maverick does just that with $1k guaranteed. But there are some caveats: Mandatory CPAP and usage You go home loaded That load is ALWAYS due Monday by 1000 So if you got home on say Saturday 1700 and that load is 600 miles away...
They DON'T fudge your numbers... they have YOU call logs to have any on duty not driving or off duty time changed to sleeper so you've technically completed an 8/2.
Why would you do it? You know it is a violation and incorrect. What would make you put your livelihood at risk?
