Thanks that’s awesome what I’m being told.

Both trucks were on Toronto - Texas runs with two dedicated teams . So little to no idling . Was getting the DPF filters cleaned every 250k-300k miles until one box gone bad ( one box is where those DPF filters sits) . Regen happens inside that. That heat makes it to crack/damage inner parts . I found a used one from accident truck for 7k CAD. But dealership install those for 20k . For DEF pump I spent around 10k CAD. I bought deteroit software to diagnose codes. Here’s the link . https://demanddetroit.com/technology/connectivity/virtual-technician/
whenever you get any code you’ll get an email about it’s info and further steps . It’s really helpful And charges very little (500/y).

You could try cleaning the emissions system. Their is a foam cleaner, Diesel Force some independent shops are using. They clean the engine and emissions system, the get all the soot out of the engine. One shop in PA has a fuel additive that help keep the system clean. The are going the way of cleaning the emissions systems so the work as good when new vs just replacing parts
Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
Oh wow I see I bet your trucks are moving and your making good money. I appreciate you taking the time to share some of the ins and outs. There’s a lot to consider.
-
I’ve heard of something like that and you add to your fuel.
So this stuff is saying it will clean all your emission parts like new?? Thank you and I would love to get my hands on some of it of that product. -
They sell this stuff you add to diesel to burn the soot or diesel better. I never used it since I don't have my own truck anymore. It might be worth trying some to see if it works. Pittsburgh Power is on Satellite radio every week talking about engine repairs to help drivers. Their not just pushing their products. They do talk a lot about it. Driver say it works. They have the Diesel Force cleaning also but that just a system they using any shop could buy that setup if they wanted.

I also have a 2016 FL Cascadia, but mine has 629k miles. I have my own little o/o thread where I have documented most of my notable issues with the truck as well as quite a few less notable experiences on the road.
I won't plug it with a link here, but I will say that once my truck is paid off, the first time it needs a repair that will cost more than a significant chunk of a down payment for a new or slightly used truck, I will trade it in on a new truck.
If your truck was a Mega truck before you bought it, they did not maintain it properly. That is why they sell the trucks at 350-450k miles. Buy a 500k mile warranty, work the crap out of it with little maintenance for a couple years, then sell it to us owner operator wannabe types who can't easily buy a new truck.
That's the Mega Model. And it works. I will be adopting that model starting with my next truck. -
I didn’t buy mine from a company. I was lucky to buy my truck from another o/o that is in the same line of work as me and it had 350k miles when he sold it to me. He doesn’t keep his trucks long and always buys the extended premium warranty. Bonus is that I know him and we work together. He is known for taking good care of his equipment which is why I’m going back and forth wondering should keep or sell. Different FL mechanics and service mgrs have told me that I have a nice truck and they can tell it’s been well taken care of inside and out. But to me that’s all fine and good but Ive read the emissions hurts the life of the engine and these trucks are good til 500k and without that warranty I will soon will have to face costly repairs (ERG,DOC,SCR, DPF, INJECTORS etc) Then why keep it? But one guy on here said he has a 2015 that has 1M!!! But he also had to spend approx 17k cad for a new def pump and assembly box. Then another gent talked about getting the engine and after treatment cleaned with Diesel Force foam cleanser at a shop and that it can make everything like new by removing all the carbon and soot. It was an interesting video and I’ve been reading the reviews which have been positive. Been also checking out YouTube about as well. I appreciate you and everyone that has been offering their advice.
I would love your see your thread if you don’t mind could and if not how could I find it? Thank you -
Do you happen to know how much an entire engine/after treatment costs? Also you have to do an oil change afterwards. Also do know how often you should do the cleaning?
