I heard that show too. I took it anecdotally as " An experienced driver does not necessarily make a good business operater "
I'm not an o/o, but if asked, I advocate at least 1 year driving before buying a truck. If I were to open a diner, I'd first go and work at one for 6 months.
I like KR, I stopped listening a while back when he got political - but started back up because he does churn through a lot of calls.
I bought a DVD of his some years back - waste of money.
I've found millions of dollars of free information on this forum that outstrips anything you can put in a single perspective video presentation. -
I have asked him on this site why the Turbo3000d or whatever its called was a must have item and now it isn't. He refused to answer the question.

KR's message can be summed up in two words.
Money Management.
But the man is so loose with numbers that it borders on absurd. He critized Cummins' gearing recommendation of 1450 @ 65 and touted 1350 @ 60 as being far superior. (Those are so close that they are almost identical.) -

I like his overall philosophy of increased MPG, but his "hooray for free market capitalism" drives me up the wall - just stick to the trucks thanks.
I also gather he runs a small FedEx fleet - and I'm pretty sure he doesn't pay them jack for a job identical to mine . . .
But hey . . . That's the free market at work . . . Yuch. -
Come on guys! Ya gotta hand it to KR... he's found himself one of those "niches" he always yaks about, and it's out of the truck! Most of his groupies don't even notice the inconsistancies.
He is right about some things... for example, most owner operators don't have a clue about their business numbers.DADof3 and HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thank this. -
1) steady & predictable revenue
2) Minimal maintenance expenditures
3) Low wages. They could have been the going rate, but seemed low to me.
4) only one truck payment at a time with three trucks runningblairandgretchen Thanks this. -
