Sounds good. I already have my CDL, but it would be nice to know for the people that don't have them and want to get them. I'm in Las Vegas and they have a terminal here, hopefully I can get on with them

So, Schools shut down mainly because of money (Not that profitable as the success rate was low) Phx has kept its school open for now but Knight as a company looks to be doing a exit out of this side of things. As for cost's I'm told if your still getting charged the original price then they are paying for everything. If you get the new revised price then its on you. (Sorry I don't have the price's for ya)
Pretty much all I could find out. I was told pretty much frankly they are simply looking to exit the program all together. Take this for what it is, I asked this was pretty much the answer I got, whether it right or wrong I don't know.
Be safe out there guys.boiseburb Thanks this. -
I'm going to be going to orientation next week in Las Vegas. I already have my cdl and I know how to drive, I just don't have any OTR experience. I asked the recruiter if I could go out with a trainer for a week or two so I could learn the OTR side of things you know like how to manage your weight, paperwork procedure, and things of that nature. I'm probably just going to need a little practice on backing. I worked in the oil fields and I almost always had space to straight back so I never got too much 45 or 90 backing done, and that's what I'm a bit worried about. One thing I'm probably not going to like but have to deal with it, it's that they don't have many 10 speeds anymore, I think they've gotten pretty much all automatics. I have never driven an auto and maybe they're not that bad, but I would like to further enhance my driving skills by continuing to use a manual trans, instead of auto. I don't want to drive for them for a while and then fail a road-test at a company because I can't shift.. lol I really love shifting and it's one of the things that makes it enjoyable for me to do what I do, if I don't have that then it'll just be crappy. Most likely all the carriers will eventually get autos, or even unmaned trucks lol, I'll become an owner op that day or look for another profession lmfao. Sad future ahead of us..
Fajo Thanks this. -
Just a tad bit to continue on what Fajo has stated, they have shut this down in the two locations, Indy and Olive Branch, due mainly to budget concerns. One of the biggest things that hurt them (coming from a Squire manager) was the fact that since its not a contract and only a promissory note, people were not paying Knight back and just up and leaving so they were not able to recoup that budget amount let alone make a profit to better the program. That is why they now only offer it out in Phoenix and on top of that trimmed down the costs out there as well. For instance, they are not paying for room and board and transportation back and forth to the terminal each day, that is on the driver. From what I was told the only time they will offer everything is if you are a veteran and using your Post 9/11 GI Bill because they have to offer it in order to get reimbursed by the government and to maintain there certification to get paid under this GI Bill program.
