Knight was a great company when I was there 2 years ago. Good management team and dispatchers and they kept you going.
-
So much has changed in one year, it's almost not the same company as when I started a year ago.
-
They are all over craigslist, almost every day they have their little advertisement posted there....Knight Refrigerated MILES MILES MILES!
I thought about Marten to but talked with a friend of mine here that worked for them and he didn't recommend them out here, even though he said they moved dispatch back to Wisconsin.
I also considered KLLM but they want to send you out with a trainer regardless of experience. I heard from another one of their drivers that they have hired so many newbies that they actually ran out of trucks and are having to wait for people to quit or new ones to be delivered and swapped out. I guess that's good in a way but I don't care to go out with a trainer for something like OTR when I've been driving local & regional for the past 11 years.
Anyway - I still haven't made up my mind either way. There is a lot to consider on my part and I'm still shopping around and talking to drivers. Thanks guys! -
I've been at Marten for almost 5.5 years and I'm getting ready to bail. Things have been sliding downhill for awhile now...miles have dropped big, try getting anything done in one of the shops in under 2 days, and a recently mandatory per diem that's costing me 3 cents per mile when all is said and done (I can explain that upon request).
And for all you Knight Refrigerated drivers who are thinking about coming here...does the name Tim Kohl sound familiar? He's the new President of Marten (Randy Marten is still Chairman and CEO, but is eaing back on the day to day). Apparently he's brought a bunch of folks over from Knight and turning Marten into Knight... part 2. We've got a lot of drivers who've been with Marten a lot longer than me leaving, and a lot of office staff is NOT happy with the change in procedures. Definitely not the same place I signed onto.
I had actually been checking out KR along with a few other. I still may, but these posts have given me some things to think about...good and bad. I'm a good runner and a generally easy-going sort, but I don't take well to being crapped on...or having to beg for what was told I'd get. Anyway, this is my first post of any kind in these forums, so hi to all and happy (and safe) trips out there. -
I was wondering if Knight Refrigerated offered the 4 on / 4 off shdedule like Knight Trans does. I know this would require slip seating, but I'd rather have this kindof schedule. Money is not everything.
I realize that their are major differences between Knight Trans and knight Reefer. -
Well my experience with Knight Refrigerated wasn't so good, I was out of the Olive Branch,Ms yard and I can say that unless they have changed I wouldn't work for them again if I were paid $10.00 a mile, when it was time for home I'd get togo but the day after I arrived home they were callin' me and sending messages- we need you to come back early we need your help, and I had been out for a month and a half..

I don't know but have never heard anything bad about Knight period. The whole company seems good. I just need time then that's where i may be.
