At some point, I would think somebody will start looking at antitrust concerns because they seem to be buying Everybody under the sun up here lately.
Well.....there was a report that US Xpress has some debt so maybe that factored into their decision to sell. I'll never know. It ain't just Swift though. Heartland Express is buying a lot of companies too. It's been so many transactions since 2020 its crazy.
Theyre saying with knight Swift that they will have nearly 26,000 tractors and nearly 90,000 trailers…
Swift ALREADY had about 25,000 tractors long before they bought US Xpress. To those drivers I’d say “beware”-we’ve seen how large mergers like this go before. And drivers are usually the first ones to get the shaft!!
How can it be a monopoly when it’s still a small percentage of the total trucks on the road? Even at 30k total trucks what is that? Maybe 2-3% of the total trucks?
