So.....'we over extended ourselves with this merger and we are in over our heads with debt and can't afford to spend money on the regular cost of hiring and retaining drivers, we need an exemption so we can keep lining our executives pockets with millions every year'. I am waiting for the threat T-mo and Sprint used to get merger approval, as in 'give us what we need or we're in danger of going out of business'...
WildTiger1990, FlaSwampRat and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
So they made over 5 billion in revenue last year and they are complaining about 2.4 million . i mean cmon that is less than 1 percent. U could offset that cost with some dumb aerodynamic device that saves u .01 mpg across the whole fleet . obviously they is trying to get special treatment to further offset their expenses so they can continue to run freight at the cheapest rate to put everybody else out of business.

They’re not the only ones. UPS had their claim denied recently.
FMCSA rejects UPS driver training exemption request - FreightWaves -
To defense of UPS they mostly deliver mail sometime critical in time , and imagine how much cry average person will have when Amazon will not put his peace of junk on his porch in 2 days...
where knight - swift on another hand deliver some sort of crap from one state to another , and definitely not time critical ... -
And on the other hand, I arrive at shipper A promptly at 9am only to be told they're going on break, don't get loaded until 11:30, I cover 200 miles (no lunch) and get to the receiver a little after 3 and they tell me, "no, we won't unload you until tomorrow."
$100 for two days at 50 cpm?
Short runs suck.
