This thread is 5 years old and you guys are still picking on this guy. LOL
I have noticed that Knight gets mentioned allot on this forum.
My buddy recently went to work for Knight. I told him not to but you know, that Knight driver he talked to on the CB told him how great of a company it was and then the recruiter backed that driver up.......
He was so happy with Knight that he quit after 3 months of not getting home, the pay-check always short...uh-huh, it really twisted his shorts when I told him.....I told you so.
Now he has moved on to Werner... I told him not to, but you know........

Oh well. -
I work for Knight Transportation, but my three-year stint with them is coming to a close. They owe me money, and Squire owes me money from when I joined the Driver Trainer Program for two months but never got a student and had the worst two months in 6 years of driving, mileage-wise. I've had enough of being pressured to run illegal and then sitting on my laurels for 2 or 3 days because I refuse, or for refusing to drive all night when I've been up since 0500 waiting for a load then get a qualcomm message at 2000 for a 2300 pickup. And as recently as 8/10/2011 they falsified my electronic logs. They want me to go out today and I told them as soon as they pay me the money they owe me, I'll go out. They said to clean out my truck so someone else can use it and I informed them that it's already cleaned out- I did that on arrival to the Vegas yard on Thursday after 5 weeks out. Screw Knight- I'm getting a lawyer.

Sorry it came to that. But as you can see Knight is run by a bunch of half-wits and nobody really gives a crap anything there. The office staff at the Vegas terminal more than likely turned over twice in the 5 weeks they were lying to about not being able to get you home. They can get you home, they just figure (and rightly so) that you will have sense enough to quit when you get back.
It's actually funny reading about it from the outside and also at the same time makes you want to punch a Knight cheerleader in the face. "Debt free" whoopdee friggin doo! Looking back at my w-2's I suppose the 10 grand less I made at Knight compared to the previous 6 years of driving would have been okay provided I only worked 4 or maybe even 5 days a week but I was lucky to get home every 3 weeks. Begging for miles from some dchbag that has a beef with your terminal for whatever reason is not fun. Plenty of time off sure but it was spent in a POS truck that wouldn't even idle and the dome light would kill the battery if left on for any length of time while the motor was off.
I hated that company! Trucking isn't glamorous but it sure as hell isn't as bad as Knight makes it turn out to be.RizenPhoenix Thanks this. -

Lots of Knight drivers getting canned these days for violating their new team rules policy's after CSA2010 started. The citations that used to get you a warning are now getting them canned.
Most of the complaints I hear are systemic to OTR driving when you don't know what you are doing or how to deal with DP. I mean pressured to run illegal? what a laugh they use E-logs. I got up at 0500 stayed up all day waiting for a load and could not run at 2200? Get real they all go home by 1700 and they have terminal specific dping and no forced DP which means after your DM goes home you ain't got to do jack that you don't want to do.
Drivers I talked to with Knight will tell you that after hours loads are sent fleet wide asking if anyone wants the load. I just asked a guy here at the Gee Gees T/S and he told me that in his 8 years with the company he has never been given a dp after 1700 that was not preplnd by his daytime DP'r.
Truck drivers are just plain weenies these days. They want to drive nine to five like it is a freaking local job or something. If you can't be flexible in running OTR loads then you need to not be doing OTR. Thats why I don't do it. I did not like the 11/14 I liked it when I could drive when I wanted to or was ready to drive getting rid of split sleeper killed it for me.
How is it that when some of these go getters come on hear complaining about miles they also complain about being forced to run illegal? If you ain't running miles you ain't using hours. -
And did you also know that Swift is a oxymoron in the trucking industry as far as their trucks and most of their drivers?
