It's not that bad, what he's not doing is informing you of the per diem. If you noticed the per diem for the trip he's paid is still( - ) pay because it's a debt paid back, it'd taken out at 14cpm and 2 cpm is kept by knight. So in essence, during the training he's getting 32 cpm for the first 30k & 14 cpm going to per diem and 12 cpm paid back to the driver tax free. So it's not all "that" bad, plus we just got another penny so after his training hell now be up to 38cpm-47cpm sliding. I'm just leaving them myself for a local gig

I drive for knight and why the heck are you on Per Diem? Get the heck off of it. I make over $1200 per week. I claim my Per Diem myself.

Can someone explain what their Per Diem program actually is. Other than the obvious getting paid daily. Because it looks like its a bit more complicated than that.

Company pays you $50 per day, effectively lowering your wages,so they pay less unto your social security fund.
You can still subtract the $50 daily,if you wait until tax time.
$50 x days out..subtract from your wages..pay tax on balance.

    77Ford Thanks this.

I think I made more some days in per dium, than driving/waiting at shipper.

    The $50 covers food.
You can get it up front, from company, benefiting them.
Or take the deduction at tax time benefitting you.
    Actually $48.
    80%of $60.

People still commenting on this old thread? Well here's an update I made about $4000-$5200 a month since August. I'm actually about to buy a truck with all the money I made. You can follow my journey in youtube @
