I’m not talking about the contractors.
I’m talking about FedEx Ground itself.

I had a 5:30 am gate time, come in at 4:50 to get hooked up and 7:00 am I’m still sitting at the dock waiting for the doors to close and the contractors dont want to pay you for sitting there.

Linehaul has no control over the docks getting their doors closed on time and don’t seem to give a crap either. Management is useless.

The trailers and dollies aren’t maintained. Everything is done third party. The shop won’t help you with a single thing on your tractor. They can only touch the trailers and dollies.

The dispatchers are rude #####. Then they expect you to take two empties, go to the smart post which is 40 miles out of your way, drop those, get your trailers and then do your run. Then on the way back from your run you have to go another 40 miles out of your way to drop one box and pickup another empty and you don’t get a drop and hook for it and you only get the miles. In Colorado that 40 miles out of route (20 miles each way) will cost you an hour.

Most bass ackwards operation I have ever seen and all run with the utmost incompetence and stupidity.

Oh, in that case, I can't disagree on anything you've stated. Thankfully I get paid an hourly rate, plus OT after 8hrs. Otherwise I'd have lost all my hair dealing with the way Ground does things. They irked me bad enough once to know not to push the limit when dealing with me. Once my cut time comes and the trailer I'm waiting on isn't finished, I'll call the linehaul office and let them know they have 5mins ON MY TIME to get it green lit. Otherwise I'm rolling out. The warehouses in my area have some pretty mint dollies on hand. I've been using a relatively new one for several months now. I'm domiciled out of a small station. The downside to that station is when a trailer is red tagged, it might sit there until the end of time before it's serviced.

I don't know of the smart post situation. I don't have to deal with time wasting garbage like that. They will, however, try to get me to do a favor for them. I've been driving long enough to know favors are never to be done for anybody. They're never straight forward and are always fusterclucks.

Yes, the Henderson location is not good sometimes. Poor lighting at night does not help. But inconsiderate incoming drivers drop their trailers every which way and often block aisles, lanes, and other trailers with no regard for other drivers. They also dump the dollies all over the place and not in the dolly farm. And, if they are so inclined to do that, they dump the dollies in every which way direction instead of backing them in their allotted spots. Use some common sense, gents. The lady drivers are the most considerate of the bunch and do their jobs well. Learn from them.

    Lonesome and SwervinMervin Thank this.
