Knight has shills that come on here posing as drivers.

Well, people are gonna do whatever they're gonna do... All I really can say is if a company has to resort to threats, dishonesty, lies and intimidation to try to keep drivers then you pretty much know the type of company you're dealing with. As far as 900/week goes, I netted that ONE time and the week before that I got $250 because Knight "forgot" to pay me on two loads. For the most part I took home anywhere from $450-$650/week after tax so its a good thing my home is paid off and my bills are low. Knight definitely isn't the worst there is (I'm pretty sure Swift, Werner, England, CRST, PAM, etc. are worse picks) but its far from the best and it was downhill ever since I started. I stayed out 3 weeks at a time and was pretty much on pace to make $37,000 for the year- which is OK for a rookie I guess... but not OK for all the crap Knight will try to push on you- incompetent planning, heavy loads most of the time, home once or twice a month, mandatory maintenance every 7,500 miles, inconvenient fuel solutions, and the list goes on. Some people just need to learn the hard way.Shaggy Thanks this.

You forgot short length of haul. That makes the driver work a lot harder for the miles they do get and really does limit the max miles possible.
-
Quite right, that and the fact they don't know what the hell they are scheduling... There's no reason ever IMHO that you should be LAID OVER when picking up a load off the yard and hauling it 30 miles down the road to a warehouse. Sure you'll get layover pay if you scream enough but seriously wtf? They didn't know the load was coming? Too many wasted days on BS like that... too many to count.
EDIT: Also need to touch on the maintenance crap... You can pretty much only get serviced at your home terminal... It will take a minimum of 2 weeks anywhere else and half the time they only say they did maintenance when they really did jack ######. I brought my truck in for an annual inspection, that's right a sticker... They said the truck was ready so I drove to the terminal and guess what... same old sticker, same old date... I nearly went ape schit.Last edited: May 5, 2014
Shaggy Thanks this. -
Nope I got trained by them and everything. This is really the only industry where people talk bring home pay.. I never said about the bringing home 900 as it isn't their fault we are taxed. But one thing I give them is they never asked me to lease from them I like that. I heard horror stories at other companies where after training they are like well we are a little short on company drivers but you can lease this truck and start making money right now type if scam... You didn't talk with mgr. Of the termnal when you were making poor pay??

Your an example of what they are good at, training and giving some one a start or restart into the industry. Knight really is a one year and done company though. After that the grass is greener elsewhere. They are probably okay with that too. They got there year of flesh out of you and time for the next butt in the seat.

My favorite was always other terminals attempting to get you to drop your mt that you just live unloaded at one of their drop and hook customers. Go ahead and be a team player because you'll be sitting there for awhile....because you don't have an mt.
Scenarios like this, and there are TONS of them, are why people who say "keep a good attitude" are idiots. Yea keep a good attitude and you'll be rewarded. I gave them NO notice when quitting and STILL to this day get an occasional letter from them asking me to come back. No thanks, life is good, why would I go to Knight and screw all that up. Glad they canned all those morons out of the Joliet terminal, and a week before Christmas at that. That'll teach them who Knight really is.
