It has always been one of those things that we labeled where the Fire Extinguisher is located.
I can't find a regulation that requires it..can anyone point me to a state or fed regulation that outlines the requirement?

There is none. Only law requires there to be a fire extinguisher. Placement is where ever. Just look at trucks right from the factory. Some are behind passenger seat, some are in the tool box under the bunk, some are next to drivers seat. Some are on the catwalk behind cab.
Straight Stacks Thanks this. -
On garbage trucks like rear, front and roll off they're either driver side/passenger side/in cab/behind cab/on rear of body/under the body. Take your pick
-
Just make sure it's properly secured. No need for labeling.

Thanks...I know the requirement to carry one depending on what you are hauling. I just can't find anything that the location must be labeled. I just got wrote up for it in CA.

What do you mean "wrote up for it"?
Every cmv needs a fire extinguisher. Doesn't matter if your hauling nucleur rods or sex toys. Lol. That's a hot load. haha. I'm bad. -
Which one?
-
The regs say you have to have a charged one which is mounted within the confines of the vehicle.
-
In buildings, they have to have an labeled pointing to where the fire extinguisher is. You know, the big red arrow usually pointing down saying fire extinguisher. Never heard about it for trucks.

Might just be a CA regulation. Kinda like having to put the vin on the truck. Some states require it and some don't.
