Landstar doesn't lease trucks, you have to bring your own. It does take a month to get leased on. Heck, it's taking me a week just to do a name change. Your husband's success will depend on how much of an entrepreneur and business person he is. If he is just a truck driver, he probably won't do well. If he expects to stay local, he really won't do well. Good luck.

You may want to try to run teams with your husband. As far as Landstar bringing you the wealth you desire. That would be a big No.

I see everyone and their uncle pulling dry van for landstar. You have to do specialty work to earn top pay.
I saw landstar had windmill blade division. Do they still have it? I wonder hows the pay on that division. I'm looking at getting into specialty hauling, getting tired of hauling sticks and bricks.

Im currently doing dry van with landstar and looking to make the change over to flatbed. I don't have any flat experience so I was wondering if any of you experienced landstar drivers know if their 2 day securement class provides enough information for a newbie. Also are you able to get flatbed equipment (chains, binders, etc) through landstar?

A friend of mine bought his own trailer and had a lift gate installed. He then got 100 padwrap blankets and 20 load bars. Been doing well with that setup so far. That kind of freight won't be every week but it's not all that rare either, especially from April to October.
