They've gotten to lying frequently about the ‘direct shipper’ box -

On the other hand, there’s good agents that have a solid relationship with another brokerage - can’t list it as direct, but the freight is solid.

Past case was Bass Tracker - in-house was Werner, seasonal overflow was farmed out through one LS agent. Peak flow was name your price Friday - $6/mile on 500 miles with 2 boats delivered Monday not uncommon.

Since gone - Werner is out, Maverick is in, ain’t seen any since.

    Schneider is not better.
You will compete with company trucks for the higher rates.
Schneider will not give you a demo of their load board but they will do their best to give you a brand new shiny CPAP

    jsnell Thanks this.

Utter fabrication. Schneider is a top choice of premier owner operators in the industry.

I've always maintained for people to keep their mouths shut.

You never know who you're talking to.

Especially the weak tit players that love to brag.

Oh look at me. Yes look. Now someone else has your freight.

Yeah but you have to be there 10 years and not hit anything to get it.
I still haul A LOT of LS freight. When I do, I get most of the same discounts on fuel and tires, get paid faster from them and usually more than I’d make as a BCO, so it’s not all bad on the outside...

I for one am so thankful for this thread, and all the other Landstar threads.

Otherwise I'd never know the truth about Landstar.

I fully recommend Landstar. They will teach you most everything you need to know about being a independent owner/operator, keeping records, etc. Once trained, you can become an owner/operator for real raking in 100% instead of 65%. You will pay a factor 3-5% plus more for insurance, but for a little effort on your part, you will definitely beat 65%.

    I know!

    @Dave_in_AZ makes 65% of that,
    I make 73% of this,
@Opus makes 75% of the other.

Don’t forget the paper logs either.

Even with the 3-4% of the rest - You’d be NUTS not to see the difference!
