Was with Landstar for 2 years. Now more than that under my own.
Would I recommend Landstar? Sure!
-LS had a lot of direct shipper freight and there is no broker in between. So 35% looks very reasonable.
- LS had a lot of Hazmat freight that paid more.
- LS had all possible permits and permit freight paid usually more.
- LS had good discounts for fuel, tires and more.
Why I left?
I saw that I haul a lot of brokers freight and I can get the same freight by my own.
Was much less hazmat freight for my own flatbed conestoga trailer.
I can do all office job by myself.
I have very good and inexpensive dispatch that help me get the top rates.
More freedom.
Want go under my own in 2019 but after COVID lockdown took the decision go with Landstar. In crisis is much more comfortable with direct shippers freight!

They probably have a social media clause in their contract like most companies do these days. I know it’s hard to imagine a trucker making a video when they’re upset and blasting it all over the Internet but it probably does happen once in a while. And at that point it would make sense to no longer do business with that person.
