There is. Even anti-coercion laws to strengthen it. It's still a wet noodle legislation. It has zero teeth as how does one prove it?

Thats where the messages on the qualcomm come in, that is your evidence when they say if you stop you're fired.

Never once had a dispatcher believe me when I said I was tired back in the bad old days.
@Rubber duck kw, here's what your argument sounds like to me:
"I wanna work myself to death! And everyone else should want the same! Profits before people!"daf105paccar, Odin's Rabid Dog, tucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
“But if I’m away from home then this truck is going to be moving” “If im away from my family then I’m not going to be sleeping in a truckstop! I’ll be driving earning money” “you do this for a lifestyle, I do it for the money”
All sarcasm,
I tell them that trucking ain’t for everyone, but the window lickers call me lazy because I don’t want to drive 22 hours a day.brsims Thanks this. -
You know at this point I wonder where you draw the line, I almost hope they require you to have a heart monitor in your truck and make it a require you have to prove you get at least 8 hours of sleep every night hell let's make you have to be able to prove it for every night of your life, but you have issues with that don't you.

Don't get me wrong, I do this for the money, too.
But I did the whole "run for 22 hours a day" thing, and it didn't pay that well. The honest truth is I make more money now on E logs than I did back then on paper.
All paper logs did (in my opinion) is take an already saturated cargo capacity market and make it worse. Face it, pay rates and freight rates either remained static or got worse from when Deregulation hit until the ELog Mandate.
But sure, let's go back to the "good old days" of racing around for 18-22 hours a day trying to keep up with customer demands. Lets do away with the 70 so the carriers have even LESS reason to let drivers go home or ever get a day off.
Heck, let's do away with the HOS completely so we can all kill ourselves making someone else rich! Be that someone else a carrier owner, a broker, or a direct shipper. Everyone makes money off our labor, so lets give them an even greater supply so they can drop the rates and make us work even harder! Sounds like a great freaking plan to me! -
See above.
-
This sounds good, but honestly if the bigger trucking companies are going to be paying out more money to drivers, then they'll lobby against it.
-
Well, they could modify the rule so you don't get hours back at midnight regardless, which is stupid.
You should get the hours back when you started your clock on the day for which you're getting hours back.
Another thing they could do is change it to 70/7 like Canada instead of 70/8.JC1971 Thanks this. -
Just get rid of the hos altogether
