Maybe I am misreading what was posted, but you have no experience..or not enough to get away from Swift....but are an owner operator? Isn't there something wrong with that?

He is not an owner op, just came off his mentor's truck and is in a company truck. His mentor is nearing end of lease or buyout and is considering putting wolfy in the paid off truck and getting another for him, the mentor, to drive. Wolfy in the old, mentor in the new.

With the Swift elogs you have some tools to help you figure out your hours. In the Hours of Service tab you can see what you have left in Summary. But the biggie is Clocks. Driving, On Duty, and Weekly whichever is the least is what you have left for today. If you want to know what is happening tomorrow, look over to the 8-Days tab and scroll to the bottom. The very bottom is coming back to you at midnight tonight at your terminal time. The next line up and up is the next and next day's hours.

These are important tools to use when you are running off recap hours and they send you some 3 day load and you're looking at today's only 8 hours left tomorrow 9 next day 7 etc, you add it all up against the trip plan to see if you can even make it.Factor in pretrips and fuel, live (un)loads etc. But it is all right there.

Supposedly if it is a 3 day load, the computer should not even send it to you unless it shows that you have the hours. Remember that the computer is supposed to be dispatching you at 47 mph.

Also don't forget that if the receiver will let you stay on property or there is parking outside the gate you can do your live unload on duty not driving for as long as you need to over the 14. All you need is a 10 off duty or in the sleeper afterwards to drive again.

I agree, that's the way I have done it for years, and will continue to do it as needed. Surprisingly I have had few problems getting customers to allow me to stay on property. Once, years ago in Wisconsin, one of the paper mills even offered their shower room to me.

I learned something new too. Mac 30 showed 3 loads, I replied yes to 1 and it was automatically assigned right at that moment. I protested that I had not accepted the load via macro 9 and my DM said yes that I did then they voided the load off me with some scathing remarks. I told them I would do the load just let me accept it using the macro 9, unless this is something new where they want to dispatch off macro 30. See with macro 30 we cannot see the full details of the load, what if it says no pets for example I still need the option of turning the load down with macro 9. Anyway fleet manager got involved and I was re-offered the load and accepted via macro 9 but I think a hornet's nest was stirred up at the office over this.
