I gotta say that I'm lost by Medicine Woman's post. First off you were a L/O with SNI. Therefore the only thing SNI has to pay to the goverment (this includes IRS, DMV, and all other agencies) is fuel tax, your 2290 form, and plates. If there is anything else that would be your responsibility to report and pay. From my experience at SNI (which ended on 6/2/10 when I leased onto someone else) they were great at deducting and paying all the goverment related expenses. As a L/O there are no payroll taxes taken out of your settlements since you are now a business owner. Your taxes are figured off of your net income when they are filed. Either you are mistaken or someone at SNI messed up the paperwork and you never caught it. Yeah SNI does have bad spots just like any other company. But if you had "great credit and lots of savings" then went "straight to Chapter 7" in 8 weeks...I'm guessing you had some previous problems that finally caught up to you. I'm not trying to upset you, but a lot of people blame companies just because they need a scapegoat.

Doesn't Schneider keep the fuel surcharge?
So you purchase your own fuel and Schneider keeps the surcharge? -
When I was leased to them on the Choice program they never once kept a fuel surcharge from me and the pay was inline with what I was expecting going off their formulas.
On the mileage program you are paid so much per mile then so much for fuel surcharge per mile (all miles figured on HHM).
On the Choice program you are paid a percentage of the linehaul then all the fuel surcharge and accessorial pay.
Where SNI really makes their money is off of a L/O or O/O fuel purchases. See when you are leased to SNI you get so much off the cash price at Pilot, Love's, TA, and Petro. This amount varies between 3-4.5 cents per gallon (these were the numbers when I left back in 6/2010). But what SNI doesn't tell everyone is that they are getting a huge discount on top of the so called dicount they pass along. The one SNI gets could be $0.30 or more off of the already discounted price. If a person sits down and figures up the rough amount that they make off of that deal there the numbers are staggering. -
Did you end up buying the lease truck from them when the lease was up? What kind of payments did you have when you were with them if you don't mind sharing?
-
I have never done a lease purchase with anyone and won't even consider that a viable option if I needed another truck. My truck is financed through PACCAR finacial and I already had it for 3 years before I leased on with SNI. I can tell you that my payments through PACCAR are a about $2100 a month which is really high, but I financed it with only trading in my '99 Freightliner which had next to nothing for value. A person can make money at SNI, but they are only pretty much paying the bills and putting a little back for extras (vacations and other fun things). To me this is not how I run my business and left for way greener pastures when a position was offered to me.AF461 Thanks this.

Hopefully ETCH will catch this thread and reply to it. He is an I/C who came over to Schneider from Roehl and he loves it so far. He can give you an honest opinion. Hubby and I are getting ready to get our truck for the first of the year.

Found out today that after all of their promises about letting me lease another truck after what happened to the last one and being a company driver for 3 months, they turned me down. No reason given.

Thats right Hoosier. I also said I did it running team training students. You do know how to read don't you? I know what I made and really dont give a #### if you beleive me or not. Of course I am sure you never drove for them have you? By the way I also said I was a lease operator not a owner operator. I was with them for 10 years. Just because you may not know how to run a bussiness don't mean everybody else is like you. I am sure Schneider is like any other company. If you don't know how to run your bussiness you will not succeed. And if you do then you will do ok.

The post that Hoosier put in this thread was not knocking you. He was saying that making good money can be done and to look at your post. You were proof of it happening.
