This thread was about whether or not you MUST HAVE CHAINS at all times. YOU DO NOT have to carry chains at all times! ONLY if you are rolling. I do not put chains on a truck ever. Its my choice to shut down in snow, nobody can force me to drive when I think conditions are dangerous. So I don't carry chains.

What is the big deal with carrying a set of chains?
They weigh less than 200 pounds.
How often will you be that close to gross, without being able to shed some fuel to make the difference?
I always keep a fresh set of chains on my truck.
