I couldn't do it, I am the type that wants to get done and get home, I laughed at Mack's comment because I know exactly what he is talking about, I saw it alot when I was a P&D driver, it drove me nuts to see it and I never thought it was right, but it always went on with certain drivers.

Even before the protected class was even a thing, every place I worked at when I did P&D, managements solution to the problem was always the same, leave the ones who are loafing alone and just put more work on the ones who will get it done.

A better use for those who get it done would be to use them as a measuring stick.

I agree, and I felt that way back then, keep in mind I am reflecting on experiences I had back in the mid 90s to early 2000s, I switched over to linehaul in 2004, did a little bit of p&d around 2014 to 2015 nothing had changed different company too, went back to linehaul again, I can't even imagine what it's like now, although I do share a truck with a p&d driver now and talk to him almost daily when I come in from my run, we don't really discuss the drama or shenanigans going on.

At my company it's considered stealing company time and they will fire us over it. We've had a driver get canned because he was making a delivery to a mall which ended up lasting over an hour. A manager that happened to be off that day caught him inside doing some shopping. I think they caught him with a grill or washing machine which he was going to same-day deliver to his own house. Made sense since he was also running a liftgate that day.

CYA ... cover your arse. If I get held up for more than 15 minutes I send my dispatcher a text message detailing what stop I am at, what time I got there, and what is holding me up. You have got to get some kind of paper trail going.

Yeah that's pretty blatant so they deffinetly had grounds for termination, in 25 years of this I have only seen one individual fired for the same offense stealing company time, I never heard the details though.

There's a limerick about that. " Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime. That's why I poop on company time."

There’s a guy at the company I work for that brags about moving from North Carolina to Texas. He was patient and waited till he got a load where only the front half of the trailer was loaded. You can probably guess what he filled up the back half of the trailer with. His own personal stuff. I’ve heard him telling the story at least a dozen times to different drivers and somehow he hasn’t been fired. Bragging about how he saved about $6000.

I’d bet that guy was somebody a dispatcher had it in for anyway for something totally unrelated. I’ve seen at least one railroaded on those grounds.

Now it’s to the point where they’re thankful if somebody feels like getting all his work done.
