Today was probably the worst day ive had at werner. I had chemicals leaking from the nose of trailer this morning into a storm drain. I called and messaged fm who told me to call saftey. Saftey sent out HME crew to deal with it. We had to hand unload entire trailer to get to it. Operations manager threw a ##### fit because the trailers don't have placcardable amts in trailer.
I told him due to leak into storm drain i called saftey and let them decide.
He got all whiny about it. I told him put his gripes on qualcomm and hung up. Needless to say he didn't. Was i wrong? The way i see it is if some nosy busy body sees it and calls cops, I'm SCREWED.
    WHAT SAY YOU?

You did the right thing. As you said if the right person would have saw it depending on chemical you could have been arrested out of a job. You followed the right protocol. Find a situation. Call correct ppl at company and let them handle it. For the OM f... Him. He is just thinking about his bonus probably. Its not your or his fault the package was leaking. He was just worrying bout the load being late.

Well, what was leaking? Was it supposed to be placarded? Was it just a case of Formula 409? Inquiring minds want to know.

    Rules of hazmat leak.

    1. Control the situation
    2. Contain the leak
    3. Call police/safety

You should of had move away from the drain, pull out your spill kit and contain the leak. Then call.

Your company now has to pay thousands for cleaning out the drain before it hit the ocean/river

This is basic hazmat 101. What was leaking, how much, do u even hold a hazmat cdl
