whom would you say at fault, the trailer sitting parked being loaded, or the truck that dragged his trailer over the parked one? Couldn’t be his trailers fault. I’ve never seen a trailer drive itself.
All it did to his was dent front and put deep scratch

The truck that caused damage to your trailer would be at fault. Was this a shipper/receiver that required you to leave your trailer there until they were done? I would think the location where it was parked should get a call and be made aware of the damage. It should be on them, unless they can get the responsible truck to take accountability. Granted, this is what should happen but may be tough to accomplish. However, if you had moved this trailer as a power only for example, the broker would file a claim with your company because the trailer was in your care when the damage occured (live load/unload or not, you would be responsible as far as your broker is concerned). It's the chain of command.

We were all there, they were loading when he hit the trailer, rocking it sideways. Has to dump the corn cause tore tarp up too. Trailer and truck and driver sat 3 days in Kansas City waiting on parts.

Did the responsible party take care of it? That really sucks, I'm sorry.

I highly recommend going after the responsible truck. It doesn't sound like the location was the problem and that other trucker must have thought he could get away with it. That's not right. I'd try calling them and trying for a calm conversation to start to see if they'll agree to reimburse. If not, you might be able to get footage from the shipper when he hit your trailer and take that to the carrier's insurance company to file a claim.
