ups is good benefits - free where i was pretty bad - cost quite a bit i guess . never really cared about benefits but getting older it is becoming more of a consideration..
if anyone knows where i worked before it was basically my dream job.. i'm kinda with the screw the money scenario, but looking 30 years out its a tough decision. why i posted, i haven't decided anything , but yeah i probably wont ever get back in at ups
probably should of put this in experienced advice thread..

Doesn't UPS have some type of benefit where you keep, all or part of, you health insurance when you retire?
Can really get bad If all you have is Medicare when you retire. -
not sure, but i don't think you keep any benefits.
honestly the plan was to forget it and just to stay here, that's why i even signed on, but it still a big weight over my head to want to go back to heavy haul, especially after being here for a while now
fyi i was getting 1200 a week on unemployment like everyone else in the state so i could of just sat home and been fine. the virus isn't really a factor in my postCoffey Thanks this. -
Who were you with doing heavy haul
-
If you have thirty years left to work you'll be glad you kept the UPS job.
In the meantime can you work part time and weekends on your old job?
When you retire from UPS with that nice fat pension you can buy your own truck and play OS/OW in style. -

i know but ill be 50 lol
i probably could do weekends i guess, never thought of thatCoffey Thanks this. -
I'd chase happiness over pay . I ditched the opportunity to run line haul at ABF because I wanted to run the roads and it's not anything like trucking. Line haul guys aren't really even truckers they are like extremely well paid glorified bus drivers. You only get one life you'll never be able to shake that heavy haul blood out.

Once you retire you pay a one time fee of $200 and get insurance for the rest of your life. -
Here's a pretty good rundown on the pension:
