buy a white noise generator or one of those boxes that produce soothing sounds to sleep with. waterfall,waves,rain,etc... it will drown out the reefer noise for sure. it does work

I don't know that I could be considered a light sleeper, but it amazes me how in-tune you become to the equipment. It seems like I will sleep hard through everything but the reefer not doing what it's supposed to do. It has gotten to the point that, even when not paying attention, I will notice if the reefer tries to start and doesn't. Once, I was pulling out of a rest area and the unit failed to start. Even though I was pulling out of a parking spot and the truck was making the usual noise in doing so,I felt the reefer try and die. Another time, I was in a shop, lots of noise and activity and the unit failed to start. Again, I heard it through the din without even realizing it.
As for the light sleeper issue; one thing you might try is running it on continuous while you sleep so there is the constant noise/vibration that you should get used to over a short time.Arkansas Frost Thanks this. -

After a couple of weeks hauling reefers your main worry will be lack of sleep so when you do eventually hit the sack a freight train wouldn't wake you up '
