Most of what I just read has little base in the truth.
We all drive truck so we are all truckers, the only people who do not consider it so are the tips such as swift, knight, england.
Ltl is not a nomenclature for local or long haul, simply means less than truck load, otr can be regional, dedicated,lot,48 state. I know of several company that run day cabs that run interstate, some put drivers in motels, some just dispatch in a in way so the trucks get home ever night, even though they may cover 3 states in a day and cover 550 to 625 miles in a day.
Line haul generally speaking is like ups and Fed x run out of a city 4 or 5 hours, swap trailer edd with another driver a head for the barn. Less than a truck driver,I don't think so, they have to stay on schedule day in and day out, more so than a otr driver. I they get behind they cannot simply report a load.
Don't discount another man's job, simply because you haven't done it. We all work hard at getting or loads where they need to go on time. With each other's help we just may get to go home safely one more time.
Stay safe, Good Bless...
