I spoke with safety at my company and they did indeed confirm that I would have to show city and state again at the time of leaving the sleeper to get out of the truck. Thank your for the answer on here.
I don't have to write what I was doing out of the sleeper on Line 1, just the city and state. Safety at my company raises and eyebrow if a driver spends 8+ hours on Line 2. The argument is that if DOT wanted to dig around they might get a driver for falsifying logs. So when I leave the sleeper, I log it. I log what I do and do what I log.
3 true stories:
- Driver ended day, logged sleeper then went into casino and threw dice for 2 hours. Came back to truck DOT says show me your logs. Busted
- Driver pulls into rest area for 5 minutes to tinkle, doesn't log anything, DOT says show me your logs. Busted.
- Driver is pulled into Point of Entry Colorado. DOT says show me your logs, 34 hours in sleeper. DOT inspects finds 5 gallon bucket of pee/poop inside truck, driver free to go....
I am offering a challenge to you sir on the Off Duty in the driver's seat, unless the curtain are closed around the windshield thereby 'extending' the sleeper area forward to include the whole cab.
That is what I thought too because there was no 'duty' performed during the reset or 10 hour break to 'change'. However I have been corrected.
A DOT might ask you where you slept and if you answered 'the sleeper of my truck' and didn't log it you could be hammered for falsification friend. -
