When a rv is transported by a paid person, it is a commercial vehicle. It is subject to the same HOS as the big rig.

Look up the definition of commercial vehicle and you will find it is for any vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating greater than 10,001 lbs.

This thread reminds me of another one. A guy was sent home by his company in a rental car and a comdata card. He supposedly stopped every 11 hours and took his 10 hour break before driving again. Some guys say yes he is supposed to others say no. I say BS. He doesn't have to because it is not a CMV he is not bound by the 14, 11. I am going to call a DOT guy I know as soon as I can find his number and check this one out. any opinions?

I assume you are referring to the rental car.

If so, the driver was an idiot.

Hours of service are only an issue with a commercial vehicle.

On the logbook... When you close the cab curtains does it now become part of the sleeper??!! ...and you can now log sitting in the driver/passenger seat as line 2?

Yes because the sleeper is now extended.

You can also log line 2 when driving but the curtains must still be drawn closed but what works really well are those large black hefty garbage bags duct taped to all the interior windows while driving...
