Right. If the driver is a lollygagger who pulled over many times for an aggregate of 3 hours or more there's no possible way of using this provision-- also goes for being held up at a shipper/receiver etc.

i totally agree with this. and in fact if you look back to one of my earlier posts, HEAVY DUDE, you'll notice i even used 'car pileup' as an example. DUDE, you really need to learn to read posts much better.

I'm saying, in WEATHER CONDITIONS, it is a KNOWN or FORECAST event that is calling for SEVERE weather. If your dumb-az drives into it, then say "oh adverse weather condition...adverse weather condition...adverse weather condition... i can extend my drive clock 2 hrs !!!" NO YOU CANNOT. the rule only applies for evens UNFORSEEN, such as car wrecks, or maybe even a twister. How about a hurricane? Nope....its forcast in advance. just like a severe winter storm warning. it is forecast not only on the TV, but your weather radio, CB (as accurate as they may be). so you have 3 outlets to get your information from, and you choose to ignore it and drive into it anyway, you DO NOT get 2 extra hours when you start driving into 6" snow drifts on I-80 in Wyoming.

MR. Jones, Got a link for this claim. The link I provided said....a driver who encounters adverse driving conditions...... The word "unforseen" is not in my little geen book. Is it in yours? See below for opinions.vvvvvv

Okay, either you don't run the Mtn's or your nuts. I watch the weather every night, I live in Colorado, at BEST, they are correct 40% of the time for the weather in the Mtn's. Two weeks before THanksgiving, a snowstorm hit the Central Mtn's of Colorado that was not predicted to hit, in fact, every forcaster and the NWS said the storm would hit a day later then it did, and they would only get an inch or two. Yeah, well, it hit a day early, dumped 8 to 16" of snow, and closed I-70, US40, Colo. 9, US 285, US 50, US 550 and a few others for several hours, heck US40 was closed overnight. I was returning to Denver from Durango. 5.5 down, 5.5 back, I was gonna barely make it. At Villa Grove I hit snow, Poncha Pass NB was a mess, the downhill was dry. US 24/285 from Salida to Johnson Village was whiteout conditions @20 mph. 1,000 ft before the turn # Johnson Village the snow lifted, in Johnson Village it was cold, breezy, and not a snowflake to be seen. However, US 285 from Johnson Village to Bailey was closed due to 3 seperate accidents.

None of this was predicted and I watched the weather. I could have used my extra 2 but I would have been over on my 14.

Me does think your interpretation is completely off base and yes you maybe be logging legal when you shut down because the weather forecast says there might be "adverse weather" 200 miles down the road, that might or might not be correct. But the others that you are arguing with will probably logging legal also when they use that rule to get a few miles down the road further to a safe place. Adverse weather does not mean that the road is closed or its impassable, it means there is bad weather (to me) and you should use caution
