There was a driver on here a few years back who showed his CSA violation sheet for logging off duty for his 10 hour breaks falsely. I saved a picture of his violation sheet from here, I will see if I can find it again.

I haven't logged a minute of sleeper berth time since 2017 and never had any company I worked for or the DOT say anything about it. Since I have a dog and frequently jump in and out of the truck all night long I can't possibly accurately log it. Especially since by the time I go to bed the omnitracs box has shut off anyway.

Tell him you snuck out the side door of the truck and went to a hotel or slept in a tent in the tall grass on the side of the road. If you’re off it’s none of their #### business.

I can do my off duty in the truckers lounge.

And perhaps my sleeper doesn't meet the qualifications. I run solo, I threw the restraint away. (I didn't really). Regulations require one for a sleeper, so it's not a sleeper anymore, and I can't log sleeper, it must be off duty. Now that we accept that time in the sleeper can be off duty, where is such regulation that if my sleeper complies, that off duty must be logged as sleeper berth?

Then they screw you on the split berth provision because they mandated the larger break must be logged in the sleeper. What's the difference? It's a joke. Not that I use it, it's pretty worthless.

Only time I log sleeper berth is when I'm doing a split. Otherwise, I log off duty. May bite me in the behind someday. But, my thinking is what I do and where I am when I have no responsibility toward the truck, or otherwise performing any kind of duty, it's not their business. Feel I have a right to that privacy.
Also, if I'm off duty, but not in the sleeper berth, I'm sitting in my driver's seat, as I am right now. I smoke, but not in my sleeper berth. So I sit there so I can roll down my window. Also have a 10.5" tablet with a nice dash mount. If I want to watch TV or a movie, it's a good comfy spot to do that. And, have a 54 quart freezer sitting in the passenger seat, so I can't sit there.

I use sleeper berth split quite often. As a reefer driver I almost always have a specific appointment time to load and unload. That sleeper berth provision really simplifies being able to make my appointments and keep my clock legal.

I'm similar to @Six9GS where I'll only log sleeper for a split. I can even change it after the fact since editing is an option. If I'm off-duty I'm not screwing with the computer that is basically controlling my job. Off-duty means it's my time.
