Exactly right, sometimes you have to break 1 or 2 other laws to be in compliance with some other law in trucking.

I mentioned many times, this year's 2018 June Safety Blitz is going to focus on Hour of Service Compliance.
Below is a copy paste job from Overdrive Magazine and a link to some new CSA SMS with new ELD violations and severity weights-- just in time for June....

One of the biggest ones I saw right off the bat was 395.8G which is Failure to provide supporting documents in the driver's possession upon request. It falls under False Log and carries a 7 in the weight severity.

Most of the Form and Manner stuff carries only a 1 in weight severity.

But anyone can read about it here-- and download the Excel spreadsheet right from the article itself.

FMCSA updates CSA SMS with new ELD violations, releases severity weights

(g)Graph grid. The following graph grid must be incorporated into a motor carrier recordkeeping system which must also contain the information required in paragraph (d) of this section.

(If a non-sleeper berth operation, sleeper berth need not be shown on the grid.)

    This also in there.h.2

Sure, if the vehicle does not have a sleeper berth, you could have a graph grid made up that does not have the Line 2. In the ELD marketplace, I doubt there is an option for that though.

Unless, are you trying to say if you made up a graph grid devoid of Line 2, then you would not have to log Line 2 even though your truck has a sleeper berth?

Hey, what about THIS log? I know 3 drivers that used them up till the new elog mandate. I went for a long time running where a noon to noon log would have served me better. Safety said NO!

I am saying a single driver is not a sleeper birth operation. Just because it's there [sleeper] does not mean you have to use it. EG a sleeper birth operation is a sleeper birth operation. Any other interpretation is just conjecture on your part.
