A small point of order on this. We are fully allowed to to take our mandatory thirty minute break at a shipper/receiver. That being said we are by no means restricted to a thirty minute break, I would not get carried away with it but I believe an hour would be considered proper and legal.

Forget what the law says peoples
    They both count the same
But legal or not, for some reason, dot doesn't like to see off duties.
Hey, if sleeper makes them happier than off duty-fine.
Either way, it's not on duty.
    Pick your poison

My last company said never log off duty.
And they had their sh#t together
My present company loves off duty
    Says use it.
But my 35 years of visiting scales tells me dot prefers sleeper, and who knows why.
Buy they're the folks I need to get along with.
    Jus sayin

I have never had a DOT ask me about Off Duty vs Sleepr. Not at one single inspection.

The company I'm with now also has no problem with off duty driving.
Just drop the trailer at a ts and bobtail to the mall to do some shopping.
A guy just got a ticket for it and it stuck.
    The company just shrugged.

I rarely use sleeper at all unless I need to do an 8/2 split which is almost never. I do my 10 off duty and go. Never had DOT have an issue with it.

Edit: To clarify, I do sleep in sleeper but just log off duty 99% of the time.

Honestly, logging sb is less hassle with the police. I don't know why but that's been my experience

Logging no Sleeper time when you have a sleeper is daring the cop to ask you what you do during your 10. You could say you sleep in the front seat, which is legal to log Off Duty in a parked vehicle. Or you could say you slept in the bushes over under the tree which depending on the municipality may or may not be legal. If you say hotel motel holiday inn, boom where's your receipt? So it is just less hassle to log it Sleeper if you are in the sleeper.

The crap cam is the next logical step after the driver cam. Always got to prove the driver is on the level.
