VWjunkie1345, Boardhauler and MysticHZ Thank this. -
Again ....no one answered my question. From the silence I can only assume that my initial hypothesis on Long Haul was correct.

The only thing I can think of is that I am correct. Companies that use company drivers/fleece purchase drivers will always get fed first.....always. O/O will get left overs and table scraps.
Only way is to go to an O/O company that only has real O/O contracted to them. No fleece purchase pretend wanna be owner operators......I mean a straight up owner operator that has full rights over his equipment and can lease where ever be wants. -
I should not have said anything about 9-11.
And yes to the Staff, Apologies one and all.
Regarding the so called load of food, it was for a minimum of 6 weeks for two people inside that truck plus a bit of spares for others in case of storms drifting people in during winter in WY or some such. We did not use truckstops retail paying for food at all. All we wanted to be able to do is remain free and rolling at all times regardless if there is a eating place or not. Just to stop, park, walk in, wait to be served, wait for the food to cook then eat it, pay the 50 dollars or whatever and get the thing out of the truckstop... it's worth 150 miles over 3 hours lost sitting in the stop.
Ergo, visit laramie WY once a month spend a thousand on food products and so forth out fit the tractor and get going. Don't stop for anything except tows, fuel. Period. Cooking and toiletry etc were done on the move. THAT was the key to money making that year. Intense.
Weights? It really did not matter because we never routed past the majority of the stricter scales. We used old US Highways as a workaround where we could and slipped through on half tanks or less where we must which is not too difficult because we burned full tanks 300 gallons at a average of 10 gallons an hour. That's like 80 pounds. Poof.
Again, apologies for the unnecessary intro to non revalant 9-11 stuff, in that time it was a very likely prospect and ultimately worked out to a whole lot of nothing after all these years at home. -
Just applied for a driving job at LH. 57 years old, been driving since 1980, 12 years flatbed, >1.6 million miles in every weather condition conceivable, no at fault accidents.....ever!!! Didn't get hired because of one seatbelt ticket in my pickup and two "not enough tire tread" warnings from a previous employer in the last three years. What is this about a driver shortage????
