So what the heck do you do in that kind of situation? That's 10 days the wheels aren't turning, 10 days you can't make a dime, essentially a 10 day unpaid suspension because of problems at the receiver that are no fault of your own. Do you have any recourse?

So I gotta wonder, in a case like this, what the Hell is the holdup? Do these receivers not have space to put the stuff you brought them? Or do they not have staff to unload it? WTF?

I was up at McCain Foods in Rice Lake Wisconsin for over 30 hours with a load of onions to be made into onion rings. They didn't have space in the warehouse and I had to wait til they went through enough onions so the driver in front of me could get off loaded. Then they had to get through those onions before it was my turn. I think I showed up around 10am and didn't get off loaded til sometime in the evening the next day. certainly saw a lot of rice lake, what there was to see at least.

30 hours is my record at JBSwift in Marshaltown, IA.

It was a drop/hook. I refused to pull a USDA meat loaded trailer with a 2 foot x 6 inch hole in the floor and three broke crossmembers. One of the crossmembers was almost touching the ground. I think the yard dog did it and hoped nobodied noticed? The trailers get washed out an inspected when they come in by a third party.

All they had to do was crossdock it into my trailer. Instead, the weekend crew decided to punish me because supposingly I caused them extra work. They were going to teach me a lesson. I had some new movies, just filled the fridge. I kicked back and waited them out, lol. I got $200 detention and those guys got in trouble when the Monday shift come in. The next time I went there, I got super service and they were extra nice.

Showed up Monday at 1400 to pick up,, finally got loaded Friday at 1400. All for a 700 mile load. That load ended up paying just under $5000.
I was one of 5 trucks!

DuPont in Belle West Virginia. Loaded a load of formaldehyde that was out of spec, they had to unload it, I had to go to the tank wash to clean out, go back to reload, it was another 48 hours before they got it right.

Last October was supposed to deliver on a Friday, running late (not my fault) so was OK'd to deliver Saturday morning. Showed up, they unloaded 2 pallets then nothing else. Went to ask about it they said 'Oh night crew will finish you'. OK so sat all day, then night crew refused to unload it-- "that's not our job". Monday morning was finally unloaded. My company gave me a service failure for this and refused to remove it-- finally fell off the other day at the 1 year expiration.

Holy! Some of you guys have patients! If I don't get helped within 10 minutes by someone I either push the load off myself or write up a refusal and get paid twice to come back later!
