    I'm 38 and gonna give you the best advise I can. If your not 100% that you want to be a owner op. I mean 100% go get a union ltl job. I'm gonna tell you that some years you make good money, and some years live like a pauper. It's hard on a family and you best be ready to spend your days and nights off working on your equipment to make it till your established. At 29 you could get your 30 in and retire at 59 and move on to something else. I only say this because if I could be 29 and and do it over. I would. Now I'm not being negative. You can do it. It's up hill both ways and rewarding. Just think it thru.

    I have thought about that a few times, and we do have UPS and YRC in my town. Only trouble is that it's still kind of a small town, so openings are few and far between. However, I am 100% certain that this is something I want to do, regardless of how I do it or if it isn't necessarily now that I do.

    I'd take the 75% pay and get in on the loading dock. Then move to driving.

    With that said, if your gonna do it. Loose the Pete with a big Cat dream for begining. Buy something that's is good shape you can work on and make money. 2003 and older fleet truck. Build up the that pete with a cat.

    I’m going to guess even a slow Mercer will be better than the Forward air deal. I’ve been leased to Landstar for 10 years, had my authority with multiple trucks for 6 years before that. I just bought a second truck and don’t know if I’ll put it on at LS. It’s become a pain to filter out the foreign call center agents. Good luck in whatever you choose. If you live in the Midwest I know a guy with lots of direct freight (not me, I’d rather deal with hurricanes rather than tornadoes and ice).

    Yeah, I may be aiming a bit high with that one. Probably save myself $20k-$30k too.

    I'm actually pretty much on the Midwest/Southeast border in Western KY, so I could run both pretty easily. And I had heard that LS has started having trouble with agents, so hadn't really considered them.

    You can get a 2000s truck with a cat and 13 for a decent price just gotta do some lookin' and be ready to go a long ways to get it !!!!

    My girlfriend and I are thinking about teaming over there with our truck. You keeping busy enough with loads over there? I like a few things that i hear but there isn’t a lot of info to be found about Forward Air
