When my company starts allowing to haul larger than 15ft tall I'll look into getting one, until then I'll save my money

I have a slightly used one. $50 and you pay the shipping, if interested send me a PM. Maybe we could meet on the road. Doing a NY PA split week after next.

    Oxbow and Gunner75 Thank this.

I know where one is for free. It's laying beside state hwy 211 just west of molalla, Oregon . It should be easier to store on your truck too now that it was customized when it went under my drive tires, one half second after it came off my headache rack.
You may also pick a naner or two off the banana trees I am growing all over NW Oregon. A bumper crop should be coming up anytime now.

Keep them out of the weather or put anti-seize in the wing nut, or it will end up being a pain in the ### to mess with

I'm with @kylefitzy on this one, but I do haul over 15' high. I have a surveyors measuring pole that measures up to 24'. I've had it for over 10 years and can't even remember where I bought it, but it was close to $400 when I did.
I thought $400 was cheaper than hitting a bridge, and I'd bet we'd all agree on that.
I also thought $400 was way cheaper than the lost time from falling off a load while trying to get back to my primate roots to measure a load. This was exactly why I bought mine, I slipped and darn near fell off of a 631 trying to get a good measurement. After I climbed down, and got my heart rate under control, I went to the surveyors store, talked to the sales guy, grabbed a good quality one off the wall, handed him the Visa, and didn't even look at the bill until I did that quarters income/expenses balance sheet. Even at that price, I still thought it was cheap, and now that I'm older and fatter so gravity works faster, it's even cheaper...lol

Metric should be fine, but US surveyors use tenths of a foot, not inches (1" = .83 tenths; 1 tenth (.1') = 1.2"; surveyors don't use fractions). Grade rods are available in inches though just make sure before buying. Another benefit is that they are usually fiberglass with no metal to corrode.
