I applied to a different company about 6 months ago and got accepted. But after thinking it through I decided I was better off where I am so I didn't accept. The subject never came up in the office but ever since then I've been getting much better loads. Could be a coincidence but who knows.

It has always been easier for me to find a new job when I already had one. Gives you the time to look for something that will be a good fit for you. So don't worry about what your company will think. They have surely been through this before.
Western flyer and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
beware however, the next time, it could be the end, if you don;t take THAT new job.PacoTaco Thanks this. -
As an employer of a small fleet I take it very personally when I get one of those things come over the fax. I’m personally invested in my drivers though and am generally fairly “hurt” that the driver is looking. Think of it if your working hard and all of a sudden you get a notice from a random company that you are getting traded to them or that you are getting fired. Probably feel like crap right?
I’ve come to realize that sometimes it’s not a big deal and a driver was at a job fair or something with a buddy and the recruiter was good at normally HER job haha and they just innocently filled it out. Other times there was an underlying issue and instead of talking about it driver was thinking about leaving and it presented the opportunity to work on things.
Some of the guys that were barely hanging on anyway I think well good luck to the next carrier we have bent over backwards for you. lol. I wouldn’t ever let someone go over it though.
On others that have been gone for a long time or others who have quit and then we see who they apply for we all just laugh in the office and say so and so is applying again for a job! Or, oh no way it’ll work out there wish we could be honest on the sheet they send but it’s against the law to say anything other then would hire again or wouldn’t hire again. It truly is funny 3 or 4 years later every few months or so getting reminded of a headache driver again.JohnGER Thanks this. -
i was NEVER there to party and be sociable to anyone, i was there to get a weekly paycheck.
i had one boss actually get mad at me for not wanting to go to the company christmas party, saying how much he appreciated all the work we did for him, and it was his way of showing us that.
i told him flat out, "give ME the money it was going to cost you to have me sit down and eat with everyone"...
he turned and walked away...
i could care less how a boss/owner/supervisor feels when i found another job.
as it was I NEVER gave any 2 week notice, i simply told the boss at the time, "i'm outta here"...
this was a thread some time ago, about giving a 2 weeks notice.
you are FIRED on the spot, or laid off on the spot...I KNOW I HAVE BEEN.....
went to work in the morning, at lunch time i was told i was laid off......
the company/boss/supervisor rarely IF EVER has any feelings when they CAN YOUR BUTT.........
oh and that boss that got mad when i told hom to give me the money instead..??
made things unbearble for me, like i owed him my presence at his fricking outing..
i went in early one day (i had the keys to the shop), loaded up my pick up truck, and high tailed outta there.
got a job later that day, at the garage down the street...
and NO.....i didn;t go to any company functions there either...motocross25, Western flyer, PacoTaco and 4 others Thank this. -
Still though that doesn’t mean I’m not heavily invested in my team because without them there is nothing.Last edited: May 15, 2019

beyind that, you would owe no one nothing, as they would to you as well, other than to do the job.
i watched several movies/tv shows over the years, where a pair of cops spend all day (or night) together on thier beat.
then they have cookouts or parties on the days off with thier partners.....gimme a break......seperate from each other until the next shift.
there is no perfect world, family environment at work to me is not a good mix. one gets too involved and later something flips one person or another, and gunshots ring out.
go to work, ON TIME, do your job, go home, rinse, repeat.'
expect nothing more than a paycheck.
like in all professional sports, trades happen every day.
it's business, nothing personal.......or is that a Mafia saying..??? -
Every time in my career that I have applied somewhere, my boss would end up calling me a day later with something like "Hey, we got this verification request from so and so, is everything OK?/What's going on?/ We don't want to lose you, is there something we can do?"
If you're immediately worried about getting fired, that is either a garbage company that loves wasting money to find and hire drivers OR... there is more to this story.
Also - even if they do fire you, shouldn't you be able to just start quicker for whatever company you applied for now? Now you don't have to worry about 2 week notice!
...Unless you're also worried about your driving record and getting approved with the place you applied to... -
rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Also - carriers can be fined up to $10,000 for contacting a company with a "DNC" on it. A lot of times, good companies aren't going to waste their time or risk the fine.
The "DO NOT CONTACT" option only hurts, it never helps.
