SWIFT has a better training program? Are you crazy? Look at the quality of drivers that come out of swift. Really? Swift? Everybody in the industry knows the rep swift has and they rightfully deserve what the have. Just because you did not make it at Knight does not mean it is not a decent company to start out with. My trainer at Knight Taught this driver as much as he could and did not release me until he knew i could handle being on my own. Still with the company going on 3 years.
Looking forward to Knight's Squire program

all I have seen, asking and talking to guys at Pilot etc.... I live 5 miles from the Pilot on I 40 in Bellemont AZ, and knight and swift drivers have all said that Knight is 10 x better to start with. Dont confuse me

You say my job has nothing to do with the acquired skills of driving a truck ?
Backing a 747 into a hangar with minimal clearance between the wingtips and using a Tug to do so is VERY similar to backing a truck to a dock.
Am I right ????
Before I get into my airplane and fly I do a very thorough pre-flight inspection. If you are a trainer you can probably relate this to " Pre-trip" inspection.....Am I right ??????
I will always do a flight plan looking at the weather , fuel prices , easy access , air traffic etc...... Can you relate this to a pre-trip planning ?
Am I right. ?????
Like a big rig I will need a place to park at the end of the day , unlike a big rig I cant park my plane at Walmart so I have to know I have parking.
Am I right ???
As far as self proclaimed importance , I have no idea what the heck you are even talking about.
I think if someone told me right now to try to back this truck up to a dock I could do it. But I don't think I could do it as quick as you or another driver.
And with you also, I think you could put an airplane into a hangar but not as quick as me. See it is similar !
Now with that out of the way , you mentioned CRST being a good trainer for drivers and Swift being a good place for starters.
I have only heard bad things about both places on here, so do I believe you or the majority.
I don't want to bicker with you over all this , my point was so many people get on here and slam the OP for asking a simple question ,as you did.
You seemed to think I am a fool , REALLY !!!! C,mon man as you say some of your statements say who you are. Read back through here.
You say you installed radios in aircraft that would be like me putting oil in your truck, lol
And I still would not let you put a radio in my lawn mower just joking "sort of " haha
Chill out and peace man !!! -
Some of us saw Knight when they were a trucking company that hired only experienced drivers. Their college job seminar "dispatchers" are something else. They turn over just as quick as the drivers. Their job is to make the company money and with 90% of their drivers having just a few months experience, they make their money. They will ask for favors and never follow through on promises. You will fight tooth and nail for reimbursements and time off. Who the h*ll asks for permission to go home? LoL
You'll see in a few months what Knight is all about and you'll move on. It's a win-win for all parties I guess.dennisroc Thanks this. -
People will always talk #### about Knight. I am still with Knight after 2 1/2 years. Never been forced dispatched, never been told to follow the suggested route and i never wait for a load but i am always preplanned. As for the Bonus: Every quarter so far my bonus is over $1,000. Some say ya can't make money at Knight? Bull...so far this year to date i am at $36,000 and by year's end i will be right about $60,000. Not bad for a company driver. As for my truck it is a 2014 prostar with a Cummins ISX15 motor in it. Got it in late December and just getting to roll 100,000 miles in about week from now.
The key to this Company is be friendly to the dispatchers, planners and managers. too many times i see people ######## at the dispatchers. Yeah like this is going to work on your behalf ######## to the person getting you loads? Dont think so. Why have a negative attitude? Yes things are going to go wrong sometimes but that is part of the business and life too.dennisroc Thanks this. -
Being nice to the dispatchers gets you no where. Note how I did not say being rude gets you anywhere either. Knights 30 different companies in one as in each terminal competes with one another and takes care of their own. Go drop that load from Texas on the Joilet yard that has three extra days on it on a Saturday afternoon and enjoy Sunday because Monday your going to some nasty rude beer distributer for a nice 6 hour unload. Then spend 3 hours picking up a load to take to Indianapolis for Tuesday afternoon. Probably not just Knight, one way van/reefer freight just sucks and anything less than $.40 CPM is criminal.

Knight is a well run company. This does not benefit the drivers one iota, that's why they opened a training school.drvrtech77 Thanks this. -
