As I meant earlier, only once this year I had $9000 WA to NYC. I know guys who have good broker and who go $2.5-3 almost all year around. You will never get such prices from loadboard.

No.. THAT would be a ground breaking lane.. I was referring to the North East.deming807 Thanks this.

Refrigerated freight is consistent, however you have to move around and basically follow the growing regions. If you live where you do it is a little different. you can find a lot of freight (constant) freight going out of your area to the main growing states and regions. if it is produce more than likely loading takes awhile if it is manufactured and or processed (frozen chicken, beef, etc) loading is pretty quick. the one good thing is that 99 percent is no touch, you back in they load you, through up some load locks so product doesn't tip, close the doors and your off to the races. The pay is reasonable. the worst think is the waiting to load produce. but then again he can watch a good movie or read a book while your waiting. Refrigerated freight is all we do. I guess every type has its positives and negatives.

I started out running reefer then went to dry van for a bit now running reefer again! Like already stated I very rarely wait for a load! And as for the waiting to load or unload its basically the same ( ever went to a paper mill) You will get used to the running reefer and you will make more consistent money! in my opinion the pros out way the cons

Thanks - am going to give it a shot. Both with a tractor/trailer and very possibly with my straight truck, have a line on one customer, needing to find some more OR a good broker that specializes in that type of freight.

You will get used to the reefer running , while your sleeping. It's no different than the truck parked on both sides of you at high idle all night long.
The thing that gets me, if the reefer is running on continuous while im sleeping, and stops, I WAKE UP.
The early am appointments do suck, but that is part of the game.
Been dragging a reefer for going on 11 years, minus 3 months pulling a dry box, and I must say I prefer the reefer. -
An advantage of the northern state you don't need to run reefer continuous. And yes, if you run southern states continuous mode is a must.

Two buddies of mine are looking to get into regional reefer work, either in Washington state or in the upper plains. They have both done reefers before but not full-time. What contacts do you guys have that would be good for guys with several years OTR and good records? They are attracted to refer work specifically.
