I'm guessing the cr England driver in your pic was a "fly by night" CDL holder

Hands down my favorite hub to go to. Friendly and professional supervisors, brand new facility, wide open space in the football stadium sized yard. Great place for beginners.

Although, I’m not sure how their city operation works there.

Wasn’t FedEx Freight you applied to then, because there is a near zero chance you got a call the same day you applied. Large bureaucracy involved in the hiring process. Not to mention, insurance isn’t an issue for FXF as it is self insured.

OK; the guy in a desk jockey job said they will call you in an hour.

In my world that's an opening to drive them nuckin' futz.
I would - and this is just me, with the "lean into it" thing, drive back there today,
and say," I had to step out to answer a call from another application,
and I wondered if I had missed your call?"
Yes, every big Operation has bureaucracy, might just take awhile to filter down.
Let them know you're a go-getter; Be polite.
Don't leave them with the impression you're an jerk, but that you're tenacious and persistent.
Also don't forget to mention some off-hand comment about the wife and kids.
Could be points if it comes down to a tossup of hiring you, or a single guy.

What we're saying is that you did not apply to FedEx Freight, and you can and should apply to the position I linked. There are different operating companies under the FedEx umbrella, each of them with totally different hiring requirements.
