I apologize if i came off the wrong way, I actually work for lowe's right now in another position inside the store so I have somewhat of an advantage over others for the position with my experience both in the military and at Lowes. I'm really just worried about having to explain why I may not be able to accept the job. Where I live this job makes an average of about 12/hr which isn't great but it's good for me (right now I'm making 9/hr for overnight stocking) while I finish up my two years of college left. I have my CDL permit with tanker endorsement but I'm not entirely sure if I want to get my CDL or not. I probably will eventually get it (I can receive it without going through school bc of my military MOS, I spent 4 years in the National Guard as an 88M) but most of the jobs around where I live are OTR and I would really prefer a route job with Coke or Lays or another direct to store company. I live in Georgia and the unemployment rate here is almost 2 percent more than the national average. I'm really just looking for a career, I'm tired of just having jobs. While this job may not be a career it's decent money enough to sustain my living while going to school to get a degree.

As someone who has run the safety office for a trucking company, take this for what it is worth to you. As soon as you refuse to take the drug test, your application will be noted as such in their applicant software. You will not be considered again. Time to try at the next big box store.......................after you are clean.

I appreciate the help, but Lowe's doesn't give their drug screen until after they have offered you a position so I could still decline if l have to. I feel like they won't make me take a urinalysis and just take a swab since it's so much cheaper and it's not a CDL job but I won't really know for sure until Monday or Tuesday most likely if they decide to offer me the position. I appreciate the help though man, the more i
I know the better prepared I am -
Prepared= stop smoking for a bit. -
If you only smoked one joint on one weekend of drinking I wouldn't worry too much.

SEE !!!!! TOLD YOU SO !!!!!
Seriously - I'd go hang out at another local Lowes and 'bump into' the delivery driver there and ask the question.
I highly doubt a Lowes driver would be on here . . .
Good luck. And don't scratch my appliances next week. Had to wait forever for that LG cooktop.bergy, ThatOneGuy23, Shaggy and 2 others Thank this. -
Lowe's uses mouth swabs for their testing. If you applied for a non cdl posistion in delivery chances are its on an appliance truck. Take it from somebody that used to train their new drivers. That job sucks. If you already work for Lowe's,Stay in the spot your at

ThatOneGuy23,im not lecturing u for that one night of smoking. But how can u say it was a mistake? You knew while u was smoking it was wrong and u knew employers give drug test. Now when it comes to testing you're worried.Should have thought about that the night before u took a hit.

My suggestion, should you want to continue to pursue a job where driving and DOT medical cards are involved, is to change your lifestyle. Give yourself a cease-and-desist order and follow it. If you are making those "mistakes" due to your friends, change your friends. They may very well not have the same goals as you.ThatOneGuy23 Thanks this. -
1. to blunder in the choice of
2. to make a wrong judgement of
what word would you suggest he use in place of "mistake"? :smt017
Good thang you mentioned that you're "not lecturing" ThatOneGuy.
I mighta made a mistake thinkin' you are, ..... or is it were? Coulda been?
ThatOneGuy, if you're still readin' this thread, ----------------
If time permits, go to a testing clinic and have a sample tested on your own.
Expensive?
Probably.
Is it worth it?
Probably.
Chalk it up to education and/or peace of mind.
Then you'll know for sure where you stand. At least then you'd know
the decision you need to make is/was based on factual reality rather than
what if's or maybe.
