Sorry to hear you getting laid off. Linehauls are fun if you get into it. Not having to deal with traffic is awesome. Routes can get boring after a while. Good luck!

Univar USA. Santa Fe Springs (Los Angeles) CA. Used to do LTL but now on tankers. Monday thru Friday and home every night. Same as the LTL drivers. Should make over 80k this year.

Madison, WI . . . the place got bought out shortly after I left. I did two deliver runs per day plus checked in most of the shipments, and a whole bunch of other stuff . . . the work of two or three people.

I'm sure that has It's moments. You ever get the famous line.... " We get trucks in here all the time"?? Those turned into pains for me and I had a single axle with a 48' or 53'. Can't imagine that with a hood..

I run a night meet at a common spot for all the big ltl outfits and that sentiment seems to be the same for everyone. I liked this place better when we were still regionals and I was with CCX, all the FedEx drivers miss Watkins and American Freighway's, and the UPSF drivers miss Overnite.

I guess it is what it is now but those were really good places to work.

Kind of funny, really. My first "big truck" trucking job was an LTL and my last was an LTL. The first was a small fly by night reefer outfit. Typical father/son job. Dad worked his butt off and built a more or less, decent business. Kid came in and screwed it up so bad they went belly up. The last one, was the best trucking job I ever had. . .
