Storage units can be both a curse and a blessing. I had a few where the customer just gave me the combo and told me to deliver it whenever. I'd usually do those at the end of the day after all my time sensitive ones had to be done.
Then of course you got the periodicals and the home security guys that flood the city once a year. They usually find the cheapest unit on the crappy side of town that can barely fit a box truck, much less a tractor trailer. Oh, and good luck trying to get a hold of anyone. Even with a set appointment they are rarely there.
"Sorry we can't be there for another hour. Unfortunately we can't give you the combo over the phone so you can deliver it".
Oh, ok. I got about $50k of your stupid video equipment in the back of my trailer. But you can't give me the combo for your empty unit after not showing up to an appointment you agreed to? Have yourself a nice evening. We will do a redelivery next week.roadranger550, MACK E-6 and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -

I had a shipper in South Central PA that loved to load many stops onto a trailer. Ugh. We had some trouble over which I totally forget now all these years.
One of the last loads I loaded happened to be from there and when I showed up, one cursed. It's that #### kid again. Long memory I say. We still got loaded in good order, just took a little longer.
LTL Linehaul the way FFE did it was to assemble a bunch of stops onto a trailer in Lancaster TX and have you go across the USA and then stop all those drop offs. It's pretty intense but I don't think we had trouble at all. It's a little easier when it's a team situation.
I don't miss it. When I hired onto my first reefer outfit, that was all I did in the NE, many stops for one load, most of which lasted from Mon to Fri. I did ok for the most part because I was too young and did not know any better at that time. Which was a benefit. I wouldnt wish that on anyone today. It's almost like a endless quest for diesel, in those days we had a little 30 gallon tank for that reefer and it's never enough.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
